STAYING ALIVE
This page is an offspring of the "Ebola" page of this website. Among other things, the "Ebola" page included some safety tips. The Ebola safety tips specifically were related to the Ebola virus, and they suggested several ways for you to protect yourself and others from contracting an Ebola virus infection.
In contrast to the specificity of the "Ebola" page, this page covers general, basic, and wide-ranging safety tips. These general safety tips are useful to help ensure that you remain safe in various day-to-day situations. The objective of this page is to present general tips and information about keeping safe and living long—and prospering, too. This page also can be viewed as a companion to the "Health Is Wealth" page of this website.
Many countries already have in effect safety measures such as the ones viewed below. For countries that do not have these or similar safety measures in effect, inasmuch as the resources exist, they might wish to consider emulating some of the approaches to safety—and sanitation—viewed below.
There are many things in life that can cause you harm—and even kill you. Safe drinking water, safe air, and safe food—or more accurately, a lack thereof—are chief among the kinds of things in life that can cause you harm. This page views the following eleven safety areas:
- Home safety
- Work safety
- Play safety (mainly for children)
- Driving safety
- Food safety
- Drug safety
- Weather safety
- Environmental safety
- Water safety
- Crime safety
- Global safety
The following widgets, images, links, and videos comprise various ways to assimilate and routinely practice safe behaviors. Safety saves lives. Safety prevents injuries. Safety prevents accidental deaths.
1. HOME SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
Elementary or primary schools are well-known for practicing safety drills. In recent years, emphasis has begun shifting to stress the importance of practicing home safety drills, too.
The following widgets provide some home safety tips and information:
2. WORK SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
The following widgets offer some work safety tips and information:
3. PLAY SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION (FOR CHILDREN)
Children tend to think that they are invincible. Children have a tendency to engage in certain risky playful activities with little sense of danger. Children have just begun living, and they have little reason to think about or dwell on mortality. Yet, safety for children—and seniors or the elderly—is just as important as safety for adults.
The following link provides a comprehensive list of child safety tips:
4. DRIVING SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
The chief method of transportation inside the USA is by motor vehicles. The following driving safety tips apply mainly to those who travel by motor vehicles:
5. FOOD SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
As you recall from the "Ebola" page of this website, it is believed that the Ebola virus originates from raw and unsafe so-called "bush" meat. The following widgets provide some food safety tips and information:
6. DRUG SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
As you recall from the "Ebola" page of this website, from March through October, almost 5,000 Ebola-related deaths had been recorded in 2014. According to the CDC, in 2012 and in the United States alone, 22,114 of the 41,502 drug overdose deaths were related to prescription drug overdoses. In other words, in 2012, more USA residents died from prescription drug abuse than died from illicit drug abuse. Prescription drug abuse has grown to become a very serious problem in the USA.

7. WEATHER SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
It's been said that the only things certain in life are death and taxes. I think you can add natural disasters to the list, too. Because natural disasters are unavoidable, humans proactively should take steps to mitigate against or minimize the number of casualties and the level of destruction when natural disasters do occur.
The following widget provides some weather safety tips and information:
8. ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
Environmental protection means protecting the Earth's air, water, and land from excessive pollution and contamination. The following widget provides some environmental safety tips and information:
9. DRINKING WATER SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
Again, as you recall from the "Ebola" page of this website, it is believed that the Ebola virus originates from raw and unsafe so-called "bush" meat. In addition to food being a conduit to transmit viruses such as Ebola, water also is a conduit to transmit viruses. Deadly viruses (such as cholera) can be contracted by humans from using and drinking contaminated, untreated, and unsafe water.
The following videos provide some drinking water safety tips and information:
10. CRIME SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
An often asked question is this: Why do humans murder? A related question is this: What is the best way to put an end to acts of violent crimes? In addition to acquiring life's basic necessities of food, clothing, shelter, and reproduction, humans also aspire to achieve and maintain some measure of physical and psychological security, material comfort, health, freedom, self-improvement, and happiness. A physical and psychological sense of safety (from violent crimes) is paramount to an atmosphere of societal stability, normalcy, and continuity.
The following two links offer various crime safety tips:
The following bloc of videos offers additional tips and information about steering clear of a future of trouble and crime:
11. GLOBAL SAFETY TIPS AND INFORMATION
In this age of terrorist warfare, it is not too far-fetched to imagine that a terrorist group desires and aspires to gain access to some sort of dirty bomb technology. Perhaps more than the threat of a nuclear exchange between the nuclear powers, the more immediate global threat might be that of a terrorist group attempting to construct and detonate a (radioactive) dirty bomb.
The following widget offers some safety tips to follow in the event of a dirty bomb type of terrorist attack.
Global safety also entails taking steps to safeguard against the spread of diseases and health epidemics. Websites such as FluTrackers and Travelers' Health attempt to keep humans informed about the latest disease outbreaks.
The USA Army's Survival Manual offers an array of safety tips for all kinds of emergency situations.
A DIFFERENT WAY FORWARD INTO THE FUTURE
Despite the dirty bomb threat, perhaps there is no greater global safety measure for all humans to follow than for them to dismantle and destroy all of the nuclear, chemical, biological, and radiological weapons on Earth. These weapons can lead to posthaste and almost instantaneous human extinction. It only takes minutes to unleash these weapons of ferocious mass destruction across Earth. When you get right down to it, safety from nuclear—or chemical, biological, or radiological—annihilation supersedes all of the above-reviewed safety tips.
The time has come to relegate all wars, fighting, and killing to the dustbin of ancient Earth history. A new day is rising on Earth, and it is a day punctuated by peace on Earth and goodwill between humans.
