FINAL FRONTIER: DEEP SPACE
Some believe that the key to futuristic living or the final frontier for humans rests with a surge in human knowledge coupled with human use of advanced technology such as the microchip and robotics. In part, the BBC's video titled Visions Of The Future: The Intelligence Revolution examines this particular futuristic perspective:
Others believe that the key to futuristic living or the final frontier for humans rests with human mastery and manipulation of the genome by leveraging tools such as biotechnology, genetic engineering, and so forth. Still others believe that the key to futuristic living or the final frontier for humans rests with humans harvesting the atom to conquer matter. In part, the BBC's video titled Visions Of The Future: The Quantum Revolution examines this particular futuristic perspective:
I believe that the key to futuristic living or the final frontier for humans rests with deep-space exploration and colonization. There are endless possibilities for humans living in deep space. There are new worlds, new laws of nature, and new life forms waiting to be discovered in deep space. Admittedly, some of these deep-space encounters might turn out to be threatening to the human species while other deep-space encounters might turn to be enlightening, uplifting, and transformative to the human species. I believe the benefits, returns, or fruits of space travel will outweigh the costs or risks.
Besides, most scientists are in agreement that, in another 4 or 5 billion years from now, the Sun is certain to explode. When the Sun explodes, the Earth will be incinerated and will be no more. Even before the anticipated explosion of the Sun, some scientists also are in agreement that, in another 2 or 3 billion years from now, the odds favor the probability the Milky Way galaxy partially will collide with the Andromeda galaxy. As if an asteroid collision with Earth were not cataclysmic enough, such a galactic collision potentially could be catastrophic for Earth and life on Earth. No matter how one chooses to look at it, whether at the hands of God, Satan, humans, extraterrestrial beings, Mother Nature, or some other cause, life on Earth will come to an end one day.
Because life on Earth has an end date, it is all the more reason for humans to begin exploring and colonizing deep space right now in the 21st century. If the human species is to survive and to thrive for billions of years into the future, then it must start making preparations right now to leave planet Earth and, indeed, to leave the Milky Way galaxy. In effect, humans are like sitting ducks on planet Earth, so to speak, with little recourse if calamity should strike this planet. Recall what happened to the dinosaurs over 65 million years ago when calamity struck Earth; the dinosaurs became extinct for those who do not recall. Humans need a refuge in deep space to safeguard the species against calamity on Earth. Humans must remain vigilant and steadfast to keep at least one step ahead of death and extinction. I think that one way for humans to safeguard against extinction is to establish human colonies in deep space.
Obviously, futuristic living for humans most likely will entail some components of all of the above concepts or visions including some brand new scientific and technological breakthroughs. The most important point to remember is this: Humans are the masters of their fate. The future-to-be is theirs to choose. Will it be a future that can be likened to Hell, or will it be a future that can be likened to Heaven? I believe the answer is Heaven.
We have come full circle. We are back to what I noted on the "Education for All" page of this website. On the Education for All page, I noted the following: The journey [to attaining that which can be likened to a Heaven-like existence for humans] truly begins with the "Man In The Mirror," "Conversation Peace," and "This House". For, when humans genuinely embrace world peace, perhaps finally they will get around to finding "A Time To Love" one another and a time to treasure all life on Earth.
As I noted on the book's (The Age of Homo Sapiens Sapiens: Heaven or Hell) back cover, in terms of human survival and prosperity, I further believe that one of the best ways for humans to move forward into the 22nd century entails human acceptance of the civilized way of life. Also, as I have noted previously, among other things, the civilized way of life entails humans universally embracing the scientific educational method, democratic political institutions, free-market economic institutions, individual liberties within the rule of law, respect for the miracle of human life, respect for others, and respect for the property of others. I believe that one of the best ways for the human species to move forward into the 22nd century entails universal acceptance of the principle that all humans are equally human despite the cultural, social, religious, language, ideological, philosophical, political, economical, national, racial, and gender differences that separate them. Personal morality and self-discipline in civilized society are fundamental, too, such as conducting one's daily life with honesty, integrity, decorum, and a degree of humility.
For, as the saying goes, where "there's a will" [to attain that which can be likened to a Heaven-like existence for humans], then there's "a way". In other words, for as certain as you are alive right now in the 21st century, it is never too late in life for you to make a sincere "U Turn". It is never too late in life to "Hang It Up" and "Turn It Into Something Good". It is never too late to "Reach". It is never too late to "Change".
