On the "Back Book Cover" page of this website, the year 6000 arbitrarily was selected to represent the time in which humans are expected to have colonized outer space. Much like in 1961 when President Kennedy selected the year 1970 as the goal for humans to have gone from Earth to the Moon and back, the year 6000 represents another such milestone date for humans. Space colonization entails humans living on another heavenly body on a full-time or permanent basis.
