In an effort to ensure maximum compatibility with older eBook reading devices, the electronic or digital version of this book, The Age of Homo Sapiens Sapiens: Heaven or Hell, was published in accordance with the more prevalent EPUB 2 standard. The text-to-speech (TTS), read aloud functionality has been incorporated into 2025's third edition electronic or digital versions of the book. To take advantage of this book's read aloud feature, you would need to use an eBook reading application capable of handling audio playback files that have been saved to the EPUB 2 format. For instance, both the Thorium Reader and the calibre eBook readers, when installed on a desktop or laptop computer, are capable of reading aloud EPUB 2 eBooks. The software for both the Thorium and the calibre readers contains an internally built text-to-speech (TTS), read aloud engine. Their text-to-speech menu option is capable of allowing eBooks to be read aloud without the use of author-provided, augmented audio files. When using an eBook reading application such calibre, even eBook applications built for the Kindle device can be read aloud (such as the kpf and mobi eBooks) on any desktop or laptop computer.
For the reader's convenience, the electronic or digital version of the book (The Age of Homo Sapiens Sapiens: Heaven or Hell) comes in six different formats (see below). The first three of the six formats are as follows:
- epub (by which the eBook can be read aloud on eBook reading devices that support audio and also can be read aloud on desktop and laptops computers running Windows, macOS, Linux, or Android in conjunction with an eReader software application such as Thorium)
- pdf (by which the eBook can be read aloud on all popular devices (desktop, laptops, netbooks, tablets, epads, smartphones, etc.) running on the Windows, macOS, Linux, or Android operating systems in conjunction with the Adobe Acrobat or the Acrobat Reader software application.
- kpf or mobi (by which the eBook can be read aloud using the Kindle eReader hardware devices or separately on desktop and laptop computers using the calibre Reader software application)
The final three of the six formats have been enabled to read the book aloud. The final three of the six formats are the following flipping book versions:
- exe file format (for Windows desktop and laptop computers)
- app file format (for Apple Macintosh, Intel-ready desktop and laptop computers)
- apk file format (for Android, Intel-ready laptop and tablet computers)
Note: After ordering one of the flipping book versions of the book, simply double click on the downloaded file to extract or unzip the eBook to your computer's hard drive. Linux users might require software such as Thorium or calibre to read the epub version of the book rather than one of the exe, app, or apk flipping book versions. A paperback version of the book is also available.
As a technical aside, the chief difference between the popular EPUB 2 standard and the current EPUB 3 standard for eBooks is that EPUB 2 publications adhere to or comply with the older XHTML web specifications. EPUB 3 publications adhere to or comply with the newer HTML5 web specifications. The HTML5 web specifications contain enhanced capabilities for presenting information.

You do not need to own or have access to a dedicated eReader hardware device or smartphone to read the electronic version of the book. Depending on the file format you select (that is, EPUB, PDF, KPF, or MOBI), you can download one of the free software application for eBook reading in the table below and read the electronic version on your desktop, laptop, netbook, tablet, or ePad computer. To read the PDF version of the book on your desktop, laptop, netbook, tablet, or ePad computer, you would need to install the Acrobat Reader (or a similar software application). Use the Acrobat Reader to open the PDF version of the book.
Also, please be advised that, for the PDF file format, popular web browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera, and SeaMonkey often are configured to display PDF files. Assuming your web browser reveals its menus, to view the PDF version of the eBook inside your web browser, simply do the following:
